April 30, 2020

Powfu joined RADIO.COM for an exclusive FANDEMIC Instagram Live, taking on fan questions from around the world. The “death bed” rapper showed us inside his home, filling us in on he has been handling his time during social distancing, and what inspires him.

"I feel like I get inspired by everything," he admits, after dissecting some of the films and music that has seeped into his sound. "Even just like stories, that like my friends tell me, just everything."

2020 has been off to an amazing start for the 21-year-old artist, as “death bed” has pushed him to another level. The song featuring beabadoobee has cashed in on TikTok success and crossed over into new territory, gaining play across the country and climbing into the Top 40 on the Billboard chart.

"I'm just really blessed that it blew up as big as it is," he shares. "I'm just gonna keep making music the same way I've always done it, so."

The lo-fi Hip Hop bop has lived through a few internet lives, from Soundcloud to 4 million videos on the video-sharing app, and now translating into major playlist placement and success well beyond the web.

"I'm trying to keep making music. I feel like it's kind of hard without going outside and like seeing people and stuff," Powfu reveals of his time in self-isolation. "It's like a break from it all, but, I've been trying."
