Dog party approaching! Poochella is on the horizon.

A dog festival celebrating “the wonderful dogs of San Francisco” and benefiting local rescue shelters (with optional donations) is heading to San Francisco’s Dolores Park this July 18.

But the event is for human enjoyment too. Among the various festivities, dog owners and admirers alike can snap pictures in the Pooch Photobooth, compete for awards (like Best Costume, Lookalike, etc.), or watch a dog show, which sort of sounds like a fashion show and/or puppy parade.

Food trucks will provide bites, and music will be playing (though acts are currently is TBA, likely due to waiting for noise permitting).

In addition, it sounds like the event will feature adoptable canines, so if you’re in the market for a new dog, this is the place to be!

No other word yet — this event is still a bit mysterious without a sponsor — but either way, it sounds like it’s worth checking out to see an epic gathering of the puppies.
