Interpol is embracing visual art with the release of this year’s El Pintor.

Recently, they unveiled the Shepherd Fairey-designed mural in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, inspired by the lyrics to single “Everything is Wrong”. The reveal comes in tandem with the premiere of El Pintor outtake “What is What”.

The street art features mirror-like images with anagrams “The Very Growing Sin” and “Every Wrong Insight” and considers the song’s dark themes of failure and remorse.

“The lyrics to ‘Everything Is Wrong’ are open to interpretation,” Fairey said of the mural, “but whether the song is about hard living, relationship failures, wear and tear on the environment, or an empire mentality, regret for poor decisions seems to be the theme.”

To download the free mp3 Interpol is releasing, head to the band’s website. To download, type in “Everything is Wrong” to access the song.
