Until recently we hadn’t heard a whole lot from [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Foo Fighters[/lastfm]–it was back in 2007, in fact, when single “The Pretender” was charting around the world. But today [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Dave Grohl[/lastfm] and company officially return with a new album, Wasting Light, and they’re taking over playlists all over again.

The release of the Foo Fighters‘ new record is swiftly followed by a Live on Letterman webcast tonight (April 12) on that will include material from both Wasting Light and the band’s catalog of six previous albums.

Ahead of the show, Trends checks out the band’s top tracks, at least according to listeners.

Tracks from Wasting Light are starting to bubble up the charts, though they haven’t yet cracked the top five of the last seven days.

Classics from across the past decade win out so far, with the song “Everlong” still on top, very closely followed by 2007’s “The Pretender”.

From their new album, the songs “Rope” and “Bridge Burning” have made it to numbers 7 and 15 in the Foo Fighters’ weekly charts, but that’s not enough to unseat their hits.
